Watermelon Ranch Water (Summer Tequila Cocktail)

Lindsey Neumayer
This watermelon ranch water recipe is the perfect creative summer sip when the weather warms up. It’s light, fruity, and refreshing without being overly sweet or tart. Home infused watermelon tequila and fresh squeezed lime juice come together with classic topo chico mineral water to create the perfect blend of real melon flavor and bold citrus for a cocktail that’s lighter than a margarita, but more flavorful than a tequila soda.

ℹ️ troubleshooting tips

  • muddle it - are you missing watermelon infused tequila? In a pinch, you can muddle a few chunks of watermelon with your tequila, then strain out the solids! If you have the time, you can muddle watermelon cubes and allow them to steep in the tequila for a few hours before you need to make the drinks. Then, strain the pulp out before serving.
  • too sour or bitter - if your cocktail is too sour, chances are your limes were very acidic. Using a homemade saline solution is the best way to balance acidity, only a few drops can do the trick!
  • not enough flavor - want even MORE watermelon flavor? You can blitz some watermelon in a blender to make watermelon juice and add 0.5 - 1 ounce of juice to your cocktails!

♻️ customize your ranch water

  • use a different tequila - instead of using watermelon tequila, you can use a different variety of tequila like reposado or añejo, which are aged and deeper in flavor. Just make sure to stick to tequila that is noted as being from 100% blue weber agave with no additives for the best taste!
  • spicy - add a few slices of jalapeño for a watermleon-jalapeño kick!
  • skinny margarita - for a cocktail that has more of a “margarita” vibe, add in a splash of orange liqueur. You can use up to an ounce of Grand Marnier, Cointreau, or triple sec!
