Blueberry lemonade is one of those drinks that sounds easy…until it turns out watery, too tart, or weirdly purplish without even tasting like blueberries. 😳 This blueberry lemonade recipe fixes that by using homemade blueberry simple syrup (aka dialed-in flavor control 🎛️), plus fresh-squeezed lemon juice for that bright, fresh, punchy classic lemonade taste. It’s a pitcher-friendly drink perfect for warmer spring and summer days, but I’ll also show you how to make an individual portion, too!

Other recipes out there muddle berries into lemonade, leaving you with a sticky, gritty mess that still misses the mark on berry-forward flavor. This one leverages a flavor-infused syrup to bring both sweetness AND deep, jammy, blueberry taste to every sip, without being overly tart. See, the thing is, blueberries can be tart, especially when they aren’t perfectly ripe. Pair underripe berries with already tart lemon juice and you’ve got the makings of sour lemonade— not exactly the thirst quenching drink from your childhood. 😅
My favorite thing about making lemonade from a berry-infused syrup is that you can make EXACTLY how much you want, whether it’s one glass or a whole pitcher! So make a batch of blueberry simple syrup and enjoy everything from blueberry lattes in the morning to blueberry lemonade in the afternoon, and blueberry cocktails in the evening!
👀 the secret sauce…
✨ the flavor: This recipe hits The Oomph and The Balancing Act, playing up perfectly paired notes of sweet, salty, and satisfying!
🎯 the method: Mix the sauce, toss the sausages, and bake for 25-30 minutes. The oven does all the work, turning separate ingredients into a cohesive, sticky coating.
🏆 the win: These are ridiculously easy to make. Perfect for party prep or girl dinner. Since cocktail sausages are pre-cooked, you’re just heating them through while the magic happens in the oven.

🍳 how to make fresh blueberry lemonade

Step 1: Prepare a batch of blueberry simple syrup and allow it to cool. For this recipe you’ll need a little less than a cup of the simple syrup, so you’ll have some blueberry syrup leftover.

Step 2: Slice and juice your lemons to get fresh-squeezed lemon juice. You’ll need about a cup for this recipe, so depending on the size of your lemons, you could need 5-6 whole lemons.

Step 3: Add the blueberry simple syrup to your pitcher.

Step 4: Next, add in the freshly squeezed lemon juice.

Step 5: Pour in a few cups of cold water to the pitcher last, and stir the mix with a large spatula or wooden spoon.

Step 6: Serve by pouring your blueberry lemonade into individual glasses that are filled with ice. For an extra special garnish, throw some extra blueberries into the glasses and put a slice of lemon on the rim of each glass!

💡tips & tricks for getting it right
ℹ️ troubleshooting tips
- too sour – add more blueberry syrup to balance out the flavor if it’s too sour, or dilute your lemonade with more water.
🔆 top tip
You can freeze any leftover lemonade in ice cube trays and use them in future batches of lemonade instead of ice! They also work well in a glass of water for a little boost of flavor!
♻️ customize your homemade lemonade
- frozen – omit 2 cups of water and add a few cups of ice to a blender. Blend it with this lemonade for a frosty treat.
- sparkling – use sparkling water or club soda in place of still for a fizzy, bubbly blueberry lemonade mocktail similar to this Italian limonata recipe!
- cocktail – add in your favorite liquor or cordial to create the perfect cocktail for a warm day! You can easily create a spiked cocktail like a sparkling blueberry vodka lemonade!

💬 q+a
Can I just muddle blueberries with sugar to make this blueberry lemonade?
In my extensive lemonade experience, making an infused syrup is a better way of making flavored lemonade because it has the best sweetness level without waiting for sugar to dissolve. Fresh blueberries can be tart or sour, so it’s not enough to muddle them with sugar to offset the flavor.
